Our focus on fleet sustainability began decades ago. From optimising our manufacturing process to pioneering lightweight materials like ultra-high-strength steel, our path is defined by constant refinement towards sustainable fleet management solutions. By creating lighter van conversions, we directly lower CO₂ emissions for fleets and reduce the overall environmental footprint of our products.

Within our factory, we have relied on renewable energy since 2014 to keep our core production climate-neutral, while we carefully monitor the environmental impact across our entire supply chain. By prioritising recycling and using non-toxic components, we ensure our legacy is built on transparency, reliability, and a lasting commitment to a responsible fleet management industry.

We switched our main manufacturing facilities to 100% renewable energy sources. This milestone established near-climate-neutral production, with fossil fuels limited to a minor gas fraction in our paint shop line.

    Calculating exact CO₂e footprints per product across material, production, and transport data.

    Utilizing full lifecycle data—spanning raw materials, factory energy, and freight logistics—we now calculate the exact CO₂e footprint per product. We empower our customers with verified product carbon footprint (PCF) data directly on quotations and order confirmations.
     

    How we support sustainable fleet management

    The materials that we use to construct our lightweight van racking allows us to provide our customers with products they can rely on to last, whilst simultaneously helping to reduce fleet emissions and fuel costs.

    Whilst our products themselves are a large consideration of our approach, we believe that true sustainability requires a strategy that encompasses every aspect of our company. That's why we have incorporated CO2 analysis for each stage of the product life cycle into our design process, in addition to making sure that they are easily recyclable once they have served their purpose.

    Over the years, we have made careful considerations regarding our internal processes, including how our facilities can be optimised to meet our sustainability goals and reflect our company values.

    Just as we focus on the durability of our products, we also aim to build sustainable relationships, both internally and externally. We are fortunate to have an experienced and loyal team who continue to drive Modul-System forward.

    Reducing CO2 emissions through smarter design

    We know that a key part of sustainability is durability - a product with a longer lifecycle eliminates the need to continously discard and replace items. That's why we focus on using recycled materials that are proven to be long-lasting and lightweight.

    Since 2013, we have used ultra-high-strength steel as a primary material of our products, which is much lighter yet more durable than regular steel. This has resulted in our steel consumption being reduced by approximately 450 tonnes per year, whilst allowing us to create lightweight products without compromising on long-term performance.

    A lifecycle approach to sustainability

    Our approach to sustainability goes beyond just the usage benefits of the product itself, but the entire lifecycle from development and creation to disposal.

    During the development stage, our design processes are in accordance with ISO 14001, and regulations such as REACH and RoHS. We also calculate and analyse the CO2 output of the manufacturing, transport, workshop operations and usage of products, meaning that we can measure the impact of our entire process.

    To minimise the impact of manufacturing, we have aligned with suppliers and partners who we can work with in an effort to lower our collective CO2 output. This continues through the following stages of the product lifecycle, as the products themselves allow fleet managers to optimise vehicle usage for sustainability, with greater control and monitoring through our Modul-Connect platform.

    In addition to focusing on durability, we have also made careful considerations as to what happens at the end of our products' lifecycle. Not only does ultra-high-strength steel provide a wealth of usage benefits, but it is also the most recycled material worldwide and can be recycled the greatest number of times whilst retaining its properties, meaning that even when our customers are finished with our products, they still have a role to play after they have served their purpose."

    Additionally, our Modul-Connect system allows you to monitor load weight in real-time, providing you with information that can help to reduce fuel consumption, as well as sending an alert if your are above weight limits, improving compliance and the longevity of the vehicle itself.
